Hi everyone,

Although this is my first post I've been reading the forum for a while and found it very helpful.

My first brew failed to clear enough for my liking, despite using a secondary fermenter.

So this time I'm planning on using Kwik Clear finings for the last three days in my SF, before syphoning to a bottling bucket, and then bottling.

However I've just had the thought that adding the finings will take too much yeast out of suspension and impede bottling conditioning/carbonation.

So will using the Kwik Clear finings take to much yeast out of suspension for adequate carbonation? And if so what can I do to remedy the situation?

Thanks for any of your thoughts,

bonobo

Kwick clear is a very efficient finings and will certainly remove a lot of the yeast, certainly enough to make conditioning doubtful.
I would suggest adding a fermenting yeast to the cleared beer before bottling.
To do this, dissolve your priming sugar in 250ml of boiling water, allow it to cool to 25C and add 1/2 a sachet of beer yeast.
When it shows signs of fermentation gently stir it into the bulk of your beer and then bottle :thumb:

Cheers, I suspected as much. Maybe next time if I used a milder form of fining adding the extra yeast wouldn't be necessary?

I'm still new at this, so is there any particular type of beer yeast you would recommend, or does it not really matter? I'm making Brupaks Fixby Gold if that makes any difference.

Thanks for your help! :thumb:

I would go for something neutral like Nottingham ale yeast :thumb:
It clears down and sediments well too :D
