The last couple of brews i have done have been half, and half (partial mash) with a kit base. Instead of adding DME, or LME i mash 1.5kg of grain in my tea urn for 2 hour's, boil for 30 mins, then add a kit to the wort in the fermenting bin, top up to desired level 23l, 25l, ferment for 10 days, dry hop with pellets for 4/5 day's. Hey presto no kit twang, and great beer. I used to do AG back in the 90s, but dont have the tackle now to do big boil's. I have had great result's with the mangrove jack munich lager kits cheap as chips.
