Hi everyone.

Still very much finding my feet and have a few questions....

I have a King Keg (bottom tap) with a Balliihoo barrel cap with pressure gauge...
https://www.balliihoo.co.uk/barrels...l-cap-with-injection-valve-and-pressure-gauge
Mangrove Jack Grapefruit IPA extract kit.

The IPA was in the fv for 2 weeks. Racked into the keg with brewing sugar and left for 2 weeks. In this time I took regular pressure readings, After day 1 the pressure was 9.4psi and slowly hissing out the top of the cap. Over the next two weeks it gradually lowered to 6.2 / 6.4.

Yesterday afternoon I put the keg in the fridge (Dont know actual Temp but fridge is set to warmest setting). This morning the pressure is @ 3.4. I know it should drop when the beer hits the cold but should it drop by that much? Should I add a little burst of Co2 maybe?

Thanks for any advice guys

Well using this calculator
https://drhansbrewery.com/beercarbonationcalculator/
Assuming pressure is in psi guessing warm fridge at 6 celsius

Then the beer will be at 1.6 vols you really want about 2.3 to 2.5 vols which would need about 11.5 psi at 6 celsius.

Trouble with king kegs and their variants they are notorious for leaking, there's a big thread on it somewhere on this forum, cooling could affect the seal that was okay before. They are not good with higher pressures. I use mine for low volume beers such as real ales.

But the pressure drop could be due to absorbing the co2 and if you want a decent carbonation on that beer you will need to add CO2 for sure.

Hope this helps.
