About a metre, into one of these, then straight to a tap.

Not the same question but related, how long have you all got your beer lines?

I bought one of these, so hopefully length of the line becomes irrelevant. Build quality seems excellent. I'll find out if it works in a few weeks...

Search "adjustable flow tap" on ebay. They sell from about £17.50 delivered.

The main reason that I bought two 2.5 gallon kegs was to be able to force carb.

There is a fairly simple equation for calculating beer line length. The variables (if I remember) are beer line diameter, height of tap above the keg and serving pressure.
The process is called "balancing the keg" - there's plenty of advice online if you Google it.
