Just picked up this old Freezer for 25 quid.

Right... best get searching on how to put together an insulated collar and remount the hinges...

The donor freezer is the cheap and easy bit (this one's off Gumtree). Putting a collar on will mean there's space for three kegs and I'll need to buy another tap... and more kegs...

Lovely stuff. How many kegs/taps are you aiming for?

Will eventually get one myself, but need to work on making room for one (ie persuading the other half for that alongside the fermentation fridge!)

Thank you for this. Your build looks a good way to get decent sealing face. Mounting taps on the end is probably the way I'll go with mine too

Hi, looks great, I was looking at doing the same. How do you control the temperature to disable the freezer wanting to freeze ?

I use an InkBird just plugged the freezer directly into it ,set temp and that’s it .had it working for a month now works fine

Keezer is online!

Only one keg on for now. Room for three 19L corny kegs, so need at least one more tap, but might go for four with scope for using mini-kegs too.

Four-way manifold, 40W tube heater, 80mm 12v fan (on all the time), 2x intertap SS faucets, STC-1000 wired in line with existing freezer thermostat.
190x47mm pine collar with 3 coats of external white gloss. 25mm foil-backed insulation board liner. Collar attached to freezer with outdoor window frame sealant.
Temperature probe taped to a can of IPA.

All mods reversible if I wish to restore freezer back to stock condition. ...but why would I want to do that?

Happy with that. Pretty much done over the weekend and last night. Not bad for a couple of days work.

Not the most elegant example, however it's going to live in my scratty garage anyway, so I'm more fussed about getting the keezer working well and properly insulated rather than making it pretty.
