Went to see the "guy" in the brew shop in Leeds, top bloke.

Did 40pts New Zealand Black Rock Cider. Drank a few pints pre bottling; lets just say it worked.

So have now primed and bottled what's left.

I want to try a wine next, the reason for this is my wedding in March next year. My better halfs theme is pink n yellow or rasperberry and gold to be precise.

I want to use Rhubarb and Lemon (or something yellow), any ideas? as I'm still such a novice, please point me in the right direction guys? I can get a lot of Rhubarb at present you see

Thanks for your help guys.

Speak soon.

Well done on the first brew :thumb:

If you are want the wine for March you are best to get the ruhbarb started ASAP to give ti time to mature. I would brew it to about 10% as it will mature a bit faster.

For a 'yellow' themed wine you could do lemon or try a WOW wine with pinapple maybe :hmm:

Why dont you do a rasberry wine? use frozen rasberries and it will work out great.

+1 for the WOW. Check out the how to guide here viewtopic.php?f=48&t=10179

From your previous comments I assume you have been to the home brew shop in kirkstall?? Try the one in Morley as well. Bigger and better shop. IMHO more constructive advice from the owner. :thumb:

a simple tea bag wine Lemon and Ginger will be well and truely ready for drinking time of the wedding. Simple to make and has a good kick to it at around 13% abv

Tea bag wines get my vote as well!

WOW wine made with white grape juice and apple and mango juice makes a lovely yellow white wine.

Good shout PD, I forgot about them :thumb:

Thanks guys,

I'm going to try a wow made out of raspberries for the raspberrie theme and then a lemon and ginger wine as that's right up my street.

I have a 40ltr fermenter and intend to kick out quite a lot of this stuff maybe 40 ltr of each can I use these instead of demi johns. I don't mind the expense but if I can re-use this kit then I'm halfway there.

Thanks again will let you know how it goes.

Regarding the cider; sg at start 1.043 bottled at fg at end 1.000 plus any extra fermentation whilst priming does this push my cider just above 6%?

around 5.7%, priming sugar addition is negligible re alcohol production.
I've only made a few ciders but one of my better ones was a toffee Apple Cider, OG 1.072 and gave me an abv of 9%, was glad I bottled it in 330ml bottles

Cheers.. Now lets see how long it takes for the Christmas Spirit to tempt me to dip in early. :D
