I have finished my first batch and it is amazing.. very nice.

Now, my question.

In the first batch it said add 1.5kg of sugar, i added 1kg by accident. It still tastes really nice.

I have next bought a coopers larger kit that says add 1kg sugar. Can I add 1.5kg anyway.

Do kits that say 1Kg have yeast that wont allow more sugar?
Do kits that say 1.5kg have a special kind of yeast?

Obviously adding less than it states isnt a problem otherwise my first batch would have gone badly wrong. haha

Thanks

Looks like you're waiting for an answer ;)

You can add more sugar but you'll run the risk of a thinner body and odd tastes in the brew.

You'd have been fine with the first one, just a lower alcohol level.

I wouldn't worry about the yeast. It's not until you're producing higher gravity beers that you have to choose a yeast that can handle it.

Why not try this one with the correct level of sugar, then do it again with more sugar and see which you prefer?
