Sweet Oatmeal Stout. total score 38/50

Aroma - 8/12
Roast malt with a hint of raisin.

Appearance - 3/3
Nice deep black with a good head.

Flavour - 15/20
Sweet with roast malt and raisin coming through with a degree of bitterness.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Good carb and a pleasant drink.

Overall - 8/10
A nice stout and very enjoyable. Perhaps could benefit from a bit more oatmeal flavour.
Thanks for the feedback greatly appreciated, and glad you liked it.

I never had much success getting good hop flavour from leaf hops and now also use pellets.
I think the 'wheat beer' flavour does come from the yeast as I had the same with my Saison using MJ French Saison yeast.
That’s the yeast I used.

Earl Grey Pale Ale. total score 37.5/50

Aroma - 9/12
A nice initial tropical aroma with a hint of earl Grey.

Appearance - 2.5/3
Nice golden colour. A bit lively but managed to pour the whole bottle in one go :)

Flavour - 15/20
When chilled getting the hops and Earl Grey coming through with a good balance between the two. A little bit too much bitterness kicking in but this receeded as the beer warmed up and the hop and Earl Grey became more prominent.

Mouthfeel - 3/5
Very high carbonation but good body and a nice warmth from the alcohol.

Overall - 8/10
For me the balance between the hops and the Earl Grey was about right as the Earl Grey could easily become overpowering. I just felt the highish bitterness detracted from the overall drinking experience.

Thanks for the feedback. This was a beer I entered into a local competition & the higher than desired bitterness & alcohol warmth were 2 things that were picked up by the judges there as well.

Overall I'm happy with it but will reduce the bittering addition next time. The alcohol is something I need to look into as at 5.4%, it really shouldn't be as prominent as it is.

The overcarbonation I'm hoping to fix by pitching more yeast to get a healthier ferment & leaving more time between dry hopping with the tea & bottling to allow any restart of fermentation to finish.

Thanks again Dads_Ale & glad you liked it.

Hoppy Lager. Total score 36.5/50

Aroma - 10/12
Lovely tropical hop aroma

Appearance - 2.5/3
Nice light golden colour

Flavour - 14/20
Tropical on the tongue but perhaps not as much as I was expecting from the aroma. This allowed the bitterness to come through a bit too much.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Good carbonation and body.

Overall - 6/10
The taste didn't quite live up to the aroma, which allowed the bitterness to come through a bit too much.

Lemon 'D' Hop Lager. total score 36/50

Aroma - 9/12
Malt with lemons in the background. Pleasant and fresh.

Appearance - 2/3
Light yellow with a bit of haze.

Flavour - 15/20
Definitely getting the lemon but also some sweetness a bit like a preserved lemon.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Nice carbonation but a tad on the thin side. Still refreshing though.

Overall - 6/10
I think I was expecting a more pronounced flavour. Still nice and refreshing though.

Columbus IPA. total score 35.5/50

Aroma - 8/12
Not a huge hop aroma. Getting some malt and a honey like smell. Pleasant but a bit understated.

Appearance - 2.5/3
A nice light gold colour. A slight haze.

Flavour - 13/20
A good balance of malt and hops although neither really stand out. A nice fresh taste and a good level of bitterness.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Good carbonation. Nice body and not too thin.

Overall - 8/10
A well balanced beer however I think the hops could do with coming through a bit more.

Final feedback slot.

NZ Pilsner. total score 29/50

Aroma - 8/12
Nice aroma of tropical citrus but a hint of bitterness.

Appearance - 3/3
Crystal clear. Lovely light gold colour.

Flavour - 11/20
Initially get the NZ hops but the high level of bitterness quickly takes over.

Mouthfeel - 2/5
carbonation ok and nice body

Overall - 5/10
Too much bitterness to make this an enjoyable drink.

Raspberry Ale. total score 28/50

Aroma - 6/12
Not a lot of aroma but a bit of raspberry coming through.

Appearance - 2/3
Dark with a slight reddish hue.

Flavour - 12/20
Some raspberry but no real depth of flavour. Not getting much malt.

Mouthfeel - 2/5
Low carbonation and a little thin.

Overall - 6/10
A bit underwhelming in the raspberry department not helped by the low carbonation.

@Hoddy

Brett Saison. total score 27.5/50

Aroma - 6/12
Some fruit coming through but overpowered by a chemical type aroma which became unpleasant as the beer warmed up.

Appearance - 2.5/3
See overall. First glass very nice colour but second glass very murky.

Flavour - 10/20
Some sourness/tartness but flavour was a bit bland. The alcohol was evident and nice and smooth. Didn't quite have the sharpness I was expecting.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Very high carbonation which made pouring difficult and stirred the sediment up.

Overall - 5/10
I think this beer did not travel well in the heat wave. The high carbonation caused pouring issues and ended up with two glasses and one very murky as the sediment was stirred up. Some sourness but not as much as I was expecting and the aroma became quite off putting on the murky glass as it warmed up.

Thanks Dads Ale,I Was not impressed by this ale, after 4 weeks it was very nice, but as time went on it became a sour ale.First time using fresh Raspberries over 2 kg so I might just stick to my normal brews I’m used too.
