July 2023 Comp- Belgian Beers

Hi all.

I think I have taken over the judging for this month's comp which is all Belgian style beers.

I am planning to judge the weekend of 4 & 5th August. If any of your beers are bottle conditioned then it might be good to get them in early and I can get them in the fridge to settle.

Depending on @dan125 's availability he may be drafted in for help for a second opinion.

I have a wit that I can send in and am going to be brewing a saison soon, but that may not be ready in time for judging. I'll definitely send something in though.

I thought it fell into the Belgian competition much like a french Saison

You are fine for the comp as the BJCP classify it as a Belgian Ale even though it's origins were in France

Well I'm pretty sure that most, if not all, of the entrants will be brewed in the UK. Does that make them all ineligible?

Yes. Unless using 90% Belgian ingredients

It always amazes me how you all get the beers in in time at such short notice unless you happen to have all the ingredients in stock or have the beer already brewed.

Well there is a schedule for the year to plan with…I’d be impressed if anyone managed 12/12 though.
