Seeing as I was short on beer and the pet bottle had firmed up, I thought I'd put one in the fridge to try. Wish I'd put more in the fridge now.

Given this has had less than three weeks I'm impressed. Decent head, translucent golden colour (again impressed given its less than three weeks and I solely cold crash, don't rack to secondary). Taste, bit of bitterness, smooth tropical flavour with a little maltiness at the start. Not blow your socks off tropicalness (that's a word now) but balanced. Very pleasant. Neither is it strong (I didn't take an og reading. Oops. But 4-4.5% seems right)

The kit is a Juicy Session IPA. That is exactly what you get. And within 3 weeks, I'd say that's a win.

Did any of you guys ever brew this with dextrose. In the current climate I found it hard to get beer enhancer so I'm gonna go with 1kg of brewing sugars instead, I know it's not 'recomended' by mangrove Jack's but surely it shouldn't hurt right.....

Started mine off on Saturday. Took around 24 hours to get going but was fairly vigorous for a couple of days. Still bubbling away now but has definitely slowed. Looking forward to trying this one - will post a review in the fullness of time.

Is that less than 3 weeks in the bottle or in total? Really wanna get mine drunk as soon as possible! 😉

Dropped the Citra hops in this morning. Going to switch the fridge to cold on Saturday morning and then bottle on Monday. It's really nice not to have to worry too much about work and being restricted to a Saturday or a Sunday for things like bottling. Looks and smells great.

I bottled mine this Tuesday, carbing up really well at the moment in the heat but clearing seems slow!

I will give it the two weeks in the heat and then move into a cooler area.

Mine's 10 days into fermentation and still going strong so will be a few more days until I dry hop. Smell in the brew fridge is lovely

Quick qu - Fermentation seems to have all gone to plan (smells and tastes fantastic) so I intend to bottle tomorrow.

I prime each bottle (500ml) individually and was planning 4g caster sugar per bottle - anyone foresee any issues with this? (Instructions only seem to indicate amounts for carbonation drops).

Enjoyed my first pint of Mangrove Jack's Juicy Session IPA tonight.

Kit started 9th May 2020. Brewed as per kit instructions to 23L, with the MJ brew enhancer. Fermented in the brew fridge at 20ºC.
Bottled on 23rd May. Secondary fermentation at 20ºC.
Brew fridge switched to cold on 9th June.
Moved to garden shed on 24th June.
First pint 31st July.

Gorgeous! Beautiful golden colour, with a good head and perfect carbonation. Very smooth with a really nice floral hop aroma and good bitter finish.

This is only the second MJ kit I've done. The first was Pink Grapefruit IPA, which was outstanding, and this is just as good. The thought of having another 39 pints of this in the shed fills me with joy.

Hi Ghostship

Good review! Glad you enjoyed, I have absolutely loved mine (have already ordered another, this time with MJ lme rather than beer enhancer).

Out of interest (as it seems our recent brewing paths have been similar), how did you find this compared to beerworks Sierra presidents ipa (of course understanding they are different beers)? Is one a clear leader for you? And how does this juicy one compare to the grapefruit one, I’m thinking that should be my next one to try.

Firstly, I’ve only had one Juicy Session IPA. I’m hoping another couple of weeks will improve it further. The President’s Sierra was some time ago, but I really liked that, though other reviews I’ve seen suggest they’ve changed the kit contents slightly. The Pink Grapefruit IPA is really good. Probably an acquired taste, but if you like Elvis Juice, you’d like the kit. If you haven’t tried Elvis Juice, get a couple from the supermarket and make your next kit decision based on that. There’s no clear leader, but I think the Juicy Session may be better than the President’s Sierra.

It will be interesting to hear how the Juicy Session works with the LME - look forward to the review!

I have never done a Mangrove kit, but just picked up a Pink grapefruit and a American IPA. After reading this, I am really looking forward to getting them brewed. I have done one brew so far a coopers lager recipe called Green Neck lager which turned out really good.

I fancy the American IPA - let us know how it turns out.

Hi all, new member and fairly new to home brewing, have done maybe 5 kits and have just finished a keezer build. was just looking for MJ Juicy IPA reviews to see how it has turned out for others as mine has turned out amazing. I was a bit worried about temp as had it in the airing cupboard at around 24-25°C but it went from 1.048 to 1.010 in 6 days when I dry hopped. didnt move after that so I kegged on day 9 (almost closed transfer to avoid oxygen) and have been drinking it from 6 days in the keg (so its just over 4.9%). Its amazing, I'm worried I'm drinking it too early but it honestly tastes as good as any juicy/fruity style IPA I've had from any brewer eg tiny rebel/beavertown etc. Brewed with MJ Light LME. anyone think I should leave it to improve further? Maybe too late as with family visiting I've done over half the keg already! check out the pic for colour and if you haven't brewed this before I thoroughly recommend it. Cheers all.

p.s. just realised I cant seem to attach a pic, anyway it's a lovely deep orange colour but really bright with it.

Yes I agree with everything you have said, I will bottling my second Juicy today after 14 days in the FV at around 22 degrees.

Great beer and flavour, it now on my permanent stock list!
