John Bull - Lager just into the FV, gravity of 1032, not sure if i'm doing something wrong when i brew, all my readings for any brew are always in the 1030's, thought that they maybe should be higher, any thoughts?

for now off to the newcastle arms(newcastle) beer fest

When i brewed kits i always found the promised SG was always lower!! A few hundred grams of sugar extra will work a treat - i brewed quite a few coopers lagers and mexican lagers with an extra 500g of sugar to boost the ABV% to around 6% ;)

thanks for that, i'll defo remember that for the next lager, i've seen the coopers kit's in the shop, they any good?

They are pretty good for the price - just leave them a good five weeks after bottling as they can have a slightly eggy taste /aroma from the yeast I think. I primed them with a good teaspoon of sugar and served them chilled down and they were very drinkable :thumb:

Hi,

Just bottled, final OG of 1006, hopefully that will drop alittle more whilst in the bottle, had a wee taste and i was impressed :)

I'm getting my coopers kit delivered tomorrow, thanks for the above posts guys, good info for when I start up, is it best to leave in the Fv for about 10 days then bottle and leave for 5 weeks?

Thats about Right :thumb: you may want to leave the bottles in a warm place for a week after priming to carbonate. Than put them somewhere coolish for 5 weeks.

Hi the lager is going down very well, havent taken an og reading from the bottle, but i reckon around the 4.2/4.3%, the taste is dry and crisp, holds it head well....

cheers
