hi all, got this john bull cider kit mixed it up & been in fermentation for 1 week now. took a reading with hydrometer reading was 1.022. i did put in a little more than 1 kg of tate & lyle sugar. fermntation seems to have stopped, would it be ok to bottle at this current reading ???

A quick answer would by no. Cider kits usually contain some malt extract so that you maintain a semblance of sweetness at the end of fermentation but at 1022 you havent got anywhere near final gravity. Give it a gentle rouse and then take a reading again is a day or two.

thanks dunfie, gave it a stir & will take another reading at 10 days, cheers :thumb:

took another reading today & it was 1.010, i think thats probably the best its going to get so im bottling up tommorrow.

got the exact same reading today so its in the bottles, dosen't really taste all that good.primed half with carb drops & half with just sugar, hopefully taste a bit better in a few weeks.
