Jobsworth Parking Fine....

Got this in Bridlington last week.
Range Rover to the left was badly parked on white line so because of this and me being the end place I moved over to my cost, when I got back the Range Rover had gone to be replaced with a correctly parked car and a ticket on my screen. :evil:

Watch out lads........... :thumb:

Going to appeal for what good it'll be. :hmm: :hmm:

i thought it was double yellow for no parking and double white was no overtaking?

Those lines don't look legal to me. Check the dimensions they are very prescribed. If they are not correct then they aren't legal.

If you look at end place on spaces now they're double white.....

I've had 3 tickets over the years, appealed two and won both. The one I paid was because I was too stupid to remember "no return within 4 hours". Both appeals demanded proof of my claims; it was not easy and quite bothersome.

It is well-known that councils now collect more money in fines than in Council Tax.

I would suggest that you keep your ticket, appeal on grounds of goodwill, you are spending your money in Brid often, etc, and this fine will in the long term have a negative effect. Only if it fails, go to your local paper and the Brid paper and complain. The council may backtrack, but only after you have paid. In the end the headache may not be worth the saving unless you feel you are doing it for your moral high ground.

I'm gutted for you. I am very political and it is my vehement belief we are in this mess because not enough of us fight or complain and now the councils and government hit the motorist at every opportunity. There is simply no more room for 1 inch of leeway.

I do hope that at least you write and ask. You never know, there just might be someone sensible at the office and cancel the ticket. I do wish you the best of luck.

For future reference, it'll be easier to appeal if you have photographic evidence of someone else's crap parking.

Always take a picture before leaving your car when in doubt, in this case well worth looking for CCTV that covers the parking bay it may well show why you parked in such a way :thumb:

Our lass is a nurse and was visiting a patient who was dying. She parked unknowingly adjacent to a dropped kerb there were no other parking spaces as the street was full of parked cars. Got out the car ran to the house came back and went on her way. A month later we get a letter through the post with a bill for £70 as we had not paid the £35 within 30 days or whatever it was. We appealed saying she had no parking notice on the windscreen which she did not but the council sent a photo with what looked like something was on the windscreen but was very faint to recognise what it was. They said someone may have taken it off so they will overlook the £70 and just charge £35. Even though we explained the situation and she did not know she was parked on a lowered kerb nowhere else to park etc.She was gutted as she has never had any sort of fine in her life.

A colleague of mine stopped in a disabled parking bay on the side of the road to place some equipment inside a water meter chamber, was out of the van for all of two minutes with beacons and hazards flashing, some jobs-worth slapped a ticket on his windscreen.
They're only doing their job but a little discretion goes a long way, sometimes with my job I have to bump up the kerb in all sorts of places and hope the 'note to parking warden' gets read and they call my number giving me a Chance to get back and move the van.

Last time I got a parking ticket I went to source, contested it and within 5 minutes they said "yeah fair enough just don't do it again" type thing.
