People who go into care homes already have to pay what the Tories propose is taking a cut of your kids inheritance for care of the elderly "at home" not in a home why does JC have to say he will abolish something that doesn't exist?

You are right he has not for the sake of grandstanding stated Labours policy on Elderly Social Care provision. He has however indicated that he was prepared to revisit the Dilnot proposals and investigate the level of cap that may be needed but outside of the election campaign, not intended as a vote grabber but out of need.

Mrs May's mistake was not in announcing the scheme itself ( albeit as some sort of vote winner) but then backtracking when there was an outcry and including a cap which had already been denied by Jeremy hunt and others. The prospect of losing your home was too much for some Tory voters so she dithered and changed, that is neither strong nor stable, merely opportunism gone wrong!

hmm lets see though,a free for all for university students who have paid jack into the system or jack for the old age generation who have paid their taxes all their life?hes sure gonna have to find mind boggling billions to fund his fantasia project and by doing so hes gonna drive up corporation tax just at the time it needs to be reduced to stop our wealth creators jumping ship to foreign lands in the face of brexit.i can see yet another note left on the treasury desk in 5 years time saying sorry guys there is no money left and this is from a born and bred labour supporter of most my life who finally saw through ther boom and bust policys

Lets face it they all lie to get our votes its just down to which lies you like the most, i think JC's lies are far better than TM's lies.

I would say that's the bottom line. The tory's were confident of a big majority so have left their manifesto very vague so they can push through whatever they want by claiming it was in there somewhere no matter how little detail they actually told us. No tax rises for the rich.....but f*ck the rest of you.

either way he will be toast and relegated into the annuls of labours abject leaders of the past along with Kinnock/foot and broone come june 9th.the great british public can be told fairy tales but not conned by an apologetic professional pacifist thank heavens

Ah, the cut and thrust of political debate.
The note referring to no money is always brought up but never explained away as a result of Global recession rather than Labour economic policies, Ed Milliband let them away with that one.
You have to make your mind up as you see it but I see this not as a fantasy project more of putting a political philosophy into action. Helping the less well off is what the Labour party is about and yes it needs to be paid for, whether you believe it is worth the cost or whether to give the rich more tax breaks is your decision to make.I have made mine.

As far as the Social care solution it is a debate slightly bigger than Party politics, and a throw away election gimmick needing serious investigation and long reaching decisions. There are a few options that can be included:

Is it right that people should lose their home and savings because one illness has been categorised as too expensive and outside the scope of NHS funds?
Or maybe everyone should pay 1p more right across the board to support all social care. Some call this a tax on the young but they themselves will be old one day and will require the same care system. Our forefathers had to bear the initial cost of the NHS with NI and this rise to cover Social care would be analagous for the coming generation.

I think that such big and long reaching decisions are best made outside of the heat and noise of an election and not used ,especially half thought out and changeable, purely as a vote grabber from the vulnerable.

No one has mentioned the money we will be keeping once we actually leave the EU i imagine that there is a lot of good that can be done with all those millions.

No one has mentioned the money we will be keeping once we actually leave the EU i imagine that there is a lot of good that can be done with all those millions.

Strangely enough it DID come up in a discussion just the other day from an unlikely source, Boris Johnson of all people. Someone asked where the money for a particular policy was coming from and a possible black hole and he interjected
"Ah you have forgotten about the £350million a day, it does exist just that it was never definitely earmarked for the NHS"

So having got the benefit of this supposed money for the NHS in the Brexit referendum he now wants to earmark it again for yet another purpose (and no doubt not spend it).
Talk about magic money trees, the Tories now have their own endless EU Rebate that can be spent indefinitely on eveything!

To be honest if the money is used to fund the NHS and Care i couldn't give a flying f**k who is spending it, i like JC but know he is not popular with some Labour supporters, i wanted Andy Burnham to get the job when the wrong Milliband got it and i think one day he may be leader.

Seriously? Labour are supposed to base their policy on the Conservative manifesto that was published after the Labour manifesto?

You want beans on that partiality?

hmm lets see though,a free for all for university students who have paid jack into the system (because previously they were children!!!) or jack for the old age generation who have paid their taxes all their life?hes sure gonna have to find mind boggling billions (this quote is as skilfully costed as the Tory manifesto) to fund his fantasia project and by doing so hes gonna drive up corporation tax (how much by? do you know?) just at the time it needs to be reduced to stop our wealth creators jumping ship to foreign lands in the face of brexit (unilaterally caused by the Tory party) .i can see yet another note left on the treasury desk in 5 years time saying sorry guys there is no money left and this is from a born and bred labour supporter of most my life who finally saw through ther boom and bust policys

Just do as May and The Sun tells you then.

This threat of if taxes are at a certain level then all wealth creators will leave, I dont think holds as much water as some people think. Many companies come to the UK, and in particular, London not just for low corporation taxes but for what Britain/London has to offer in General. Brtiain is a stable, safe and friendly country which many companies like the sound of. London and many other big UK cities are a huge attaction for the employees of large multi-national companies. We have good schools and health care for these employees and excellent entertainment and nightlife for the young blades of these companies. I read a story in the paper (so of course I dont know how true it is) of a company ( I think it was some sort of financial company) that re-located from London to Dortmund in Germany but all the employees were moaning about a lack of nightlife so the company re-located back to London.
