Hello, Happy New Year, etc.

I will be judging the first competition of 2025, which is for American Pale Ales.

The competition will be open to anything that is covered by the following BJCP categories:
I will also consider beers that aren't explicitly covered by the above categories but do fit the overall theme of the month (e.g. Cold IPA).

I will be judging on the weekend of 1st/2nd February, so please get your entries in before this date.

There will be a prize for the winner, although I'll need to check my beer stocks nearer the end of the month to determine exactly what the lucky person will receive.

If you'd like to enter, drop me a private message to get my address.

Good luck!

Ordered ingredients today for an American pale ale but brewed a stout yesterday. Will try my best to get the pale ale brewed in time.

I think you are just making a light-hearted joke, but in case anyone reads it and is confused...

I've included Amber and Brown on the basis they aren't really 'dark' beers, which are covered in other months. If the majority of people feel that's stretching the 'pale' definition too far then let me know and I'll change (bearing in mind these competitions are generally fairly light-hearted fun).

Yes, it was light hearted and just after posting I remembered that Ambers and Browns are allowed.

American brown ale in the post.

Sadly your beer has met with a premature ending on my back patio after the postman lobbed it over a 6ft gate.

Not sure if you want to send another bottle?

For anyone else sending to me, please put 'fragile' or similar to try and deter my postman from further abusing entries.
