Cheers, i'll give that a try, i think my wife has a bag lying around somewhere that she uses for baking.

Just racked off the cider last night, bit of a random brew this with absolutely no planning. added some elderflowers to it on saturday then boiled some sultanas that i found we had and added them. on initial tasting it looks promising, more elderflowery than i meant but still not too much. I think once it has matured and mellowed it'll be pretty good - also added a bit of sweetner, but not too much about 5/6 dessert spoons to 23 ltrs, just enough to lift it a little.

Ahh ok I get it know, wurzel suggested it for sanitising apples so I assumed you could use it for elderflower as well. According to this post here its 8campdens to a pint or 1tsp of sodium metabisulphite and you can get it for £4.14 for 250g on ebay here

8 per pint !? - I generally use 10 tabs per pint of hot water for sterilisation, and 1 tab per gallon for yeast control
(remember CTs don't kill yeast, they just suppress them)

I paid £2.65 for 500g from my LHBS.

Wash elderflowers in a solution like that and it ain't never gonna ferment, not in a month of Sundays.

And I'm on holiday, so nuts to the spellin and grammer and sintax.
