iSpindel with phone hotspot

Has anyone tried using the iSpindel with a hotspot? I don’t have wifi where my garage/beer fridge is.

I was hoping I could just turn on my hotspot when I need readings. Does anyone know if this works or could test it for me?

I cannot see why not.

WiFi mesh/extenders/powerline adapters are cheap and easy to set up though.

It should work with a hotspot... You won't know when the ispindel wakes up though. So you may need to activate your hotspot then wait for half an hour (depending on how you configured the interval in the ispindel) for a reading to come though.

I got a WiFi extender for about £9 from tplink to go in the garage. Does the job for me when I used to ferment in the garage

I have a similar set up - I have a Nautilus which is a Ispindel display so the ispindel is linked to that and that is linked to an old mobile phone with a hotspot and the mobile is connected (just) to the house wifi.

it works but as @Agentgonzo says its a bit hit and miss for me because the mobile looses the wifi connection periodically and if this coincides with the nautilus tying to update it doesnt come though.

But thats a long way of saying yes it works.

Can't see why it wouldn't work in theory.

I use a set of powerline adapters and an old hub to get wifi in the shed for mine. I was impressed that the iSpindel gets signal through a stainless fermenter and a fridge!

Same set up as @Agentgonzo . Cheap WiFi booster from Amazon ,, works for me.
