I had one hell of a time separating the hops from the wort when I was pouring into my FV so I've been trying to come up with a solution. I bought a nylon honey sieve, which looks ideal, but I've just spotted this and it gave me an idea.

Is there any reason I couldn't just zip the hops into that and chuck it in when boiling the wort? I'm thinking it might also be handy if I wanted to try a little steeping in the future?

Thanks

most people seem to use a hop filter of some description, I believe the hops need as much space as possible for the boil?

Yeah I was thinking that. Having a look through ebay there are grain bags that might be better suited, but they aren't as big as the bag I've listed. I was thinking that the larger bag would give them more space to roll around and do their thing :D

I've bought one anyway as it was only a couple of quid but I'll leave it on the back burner for now and see how I get on with the big honey strainer that I bought :D

Being a tight arse I take all my used hops put them in a mesh bag and give it a good squeeze. I then have to reboil obviously as I have had my hands in it, but on a 55l brew I get another 2-3L which is worthwhile recovering. :thumb:
