Is 1kg of brewing sugar too much?

Making my Coopers American IPA tomorrow. I'm using 500g of Muntons Light Spray Malt.....I would like to know if adding a full 1kg bag of brewing sugar is recommended or would a smaller amount ie 700/750g give me better results...also roughly on average what u estimate the ABV's be using a. 500g light spray malt & 1kg brew sugar

Unless I'm missing something, with 1kg of brewing sugar, and 0.5kg of Light Spray Malt you could be looking at something just over 5%-ish.

0.7 brewing sugar would be about 4.4%.

Hi!
You could split the brew after you add the spraymalt, add 500g of sugar to one half and, say, 350g of sugar to the other half and see which beer suits your taste.

I'm not a fan of APAs, but they are supposed to be high in alcohol to go with the ridiculously high levels of hopping, and my experience with Cooper's kits also suggests they are usually designed for high ABV

One thing you won't get much of IMO is hoppiness, I don't subscribe to hops in a can of extract Coming through in a beer,you just can't can and keep hop aroma, best dry hop it later, a poor kit too as others on here will testify along with myself
