Brupaks IPA, the best kit I've ever tried, it comes with a hop pellet bag which you can boil with some diluted wort (20-30 mins), not sure what hops they use but they are quite spicy (and very nice) :drink: I usualy add some other flavour hops to the boil. Turns out a mellow warm kind of malty flavour followed by a BIG spicy, fruity hoppy - crash, wallop, bang!!!!.

I did the Milestone IPA as my first ever kit, but, while it was nice enough, it didn't really seem like an IPA. That could be down to me though!

I'm going to try the Amarillo IPA extract brew that's on the Brew UK site, sounds rather good.

I agree that most IPA kits don't seem strong or hoppy enough to be hailed a true IPA and most do definately benefit from adding more hops and dry hopping I've found

So, what would be the best time to add the dry hops, I've heard that after the intial fermentation is best, maybe a couple of days before bottling - correct???

This is a total first for me I have a small bag of challenger hops, I opened this and steeped some in boiling water as a test, but they just smell of wet grass is this normal?
Taste is quite bitter. I was thinking of adding these to an IPA :wha:

 stoker

Yes, well from my experience - if dry hopping during fermentation I've found that it produces a good deep taste of the hops tho if your fermenting for more than 5 days (and I've always had to with kits) I'd probably remove the bag because it can give off an earthy taste :( but dry hopping in carbonation or conditioning gives a more crisp hoppy aroma,..I've left them in for a few weeks and not had any off flavours but that's just my findings, there's various opinions on the matter. :thumb:

Thanks for the replies guys  Are there any particular hops I should use (boil/dry hopping) for IPA style?

Looks like I'll get a pack of hops for this, and for an elderflower tweak I'm planning for when the flowers are out.

Probably one for the experts that but I use cascades or something with a lower alpha acid% and above all the ones you like the smell of most :thumb: trial and error job never fails :D
