Was 'out back' last night after a rainstorm and noticed that the slugs and snails have returned.

Now I'm still waiting for the hops to stick their nose out of the ground but when they do, are they likely to be attacked by them? Should I surround the sprouts with slug pellets or some such (more organic) thing?

Cheers all!

Beer traps :D

)
Have tried these before but wasn't too successful. Should the whole plant be surrounded, will the little bleeders go for the beer rather than the plant every time?

Cheers!

My hops have just broken ground in the last two days...

Are the slugs especially attracted to hops then? The wife spends a lot of time on her personal vendetta against all things sluggish, do I need to get her to keep a special eye on the plants whilst they are small? As it was still not especially warm I was thinking of covering them up with a bit of compost in case of a late frost.
