Hope I'm not breaking the forum rules (if so will delete!) but I'm really enjoying this beer. Got a bottle of Green Jack's - Baltic Trader, Export stout. ABV is a hefty 10.5%.
I've not seen any Baltic porter/RIS in my local pubs or shops so I got this over the net (yes I was drawn in by the 75 cl flip top bottle). I like the labeling, especially the bottled and brewed on dates. Also I like the fact that there is no best before date!
I'm getting near the end of the bottle so not much carbonation left. The taste is still fantastically complex. Like good espresso and single malt Whisky mixed together. Really one to be savoured in a small glass and served at near room temp IMO.
I definatley want to give a RIS a try. I think I'll brew a smaller gravity stout and then pour the RIS wort onto the yeast cake. Any yeast suggestions? Was thinking of US 05, I hear it has a voracious apatite and can handle higher alcohol.
