Innis & gunn toffee flavour ?

I really like the smoky toffee flavour that comes through in this beer and I want to add it to a stout. So I was wondering if anyone knows how they obtain this and how I might replicate it.

Never tried the beer but you could try caramelising the first running's from the mash.
