£18 down the sink!
Put my coopers stout on 2 weeks ago, checked on it after 7 days and it tasted great. 1 week later I come to bottle it as it had finished at 1010fg and it had gone sour
I can out it down to 2 possible reasons, the first is I took liberties with my sanitation and by that I mean I used the same solution that I used to clean my bottles with, I just tipped up my builders bucket and poured it in my FV. The second is that I used brewing sugar (300g) that I had left but had come open in my kitchen draw, so anything could have got in.
Anyway, I have decided to go AG and have just ordered my stockpot/s. I'm going to be doing mini-biab with the option to do maxi-biab when I produce a beer I really like. I have enjoyed doing the kits, but after the novelty has worn off, of making my own beer I am becoming more and more critical of the kit beers I am making and to be honest the last couple haven't lived up to their early promise.
So there you go just need to tell the wife now  My line is going to be that AG will be nearly half the price of kits, so by the end of the year we'll easily be in profit
