Immersion heater bung hole

I am after cutting a hole in the lid for an immersion heater bung. Any tips on what to use to keep the cut as neat as possible??

A metal stamp that you hammer down to cut the hole would be ideal, or a drill hole cutter depending on the type of material you are cutting through. Not a paddle bit though.

a reamer could be used also if you have one of the correct diameter.

I was thinking hole cutter but i can only get ones for metal dunnonof it would be any good on plastic

I messed this up trying to cut the hole with a flat hole cutter bit - even taped it and cut on a block. I'm not exactly a DIY expert but it was really difficult. I ended up buying a new lid with the right size hole from Glen brew in Glasgow - though I note that they don't have them listed online at the moment. I suggest seeing if your own local shop stock them.

If it cuts metal, it'll cut plastic. Just go slow so you don't melt instead of cutting.
