Any one used "Ifttt", it is amazing!

I just rigged an extractor fan up in the loft and connected a "wifi" enabled dimmer switch to it (of course something within the range of it's amps and wattage, please, do not assume that you can wire any old dimmer switch up, I am not liable and all that) my fans less than the wattage on the dimmer and it's only pulling less than 1 amp. The Dimmer is rated at 1Amp max, I'm pulling 0.54 on full load. any way....Connected it to google home and "IFTTT" and away you go, so all I have to do is go, ok google turn fan to 25% and it does it automatically.

You can do some automated stuff in your wildest dreams, for example, get a notification when a free steam game comes out, and when I go to bed it turns my wifi off, also I buy my Electricity from "Octopus" which means that when the whole sale of electric drops, my mobile phone and washing machine turns on so I run them, or shall I say they run them selves at the point when electric is at it's best price.

Everyday I get it to update my back ground on my android.

The possibilities are endless.

Any one need any help, then just shout, it's really good fun!

I’ve been using IFTTT for a few years. The combinations are seemingly endless and it will only increase as the world goes more cloud enabled.

I have Google Home integrated smart stuff. I like being able to cycle home and open the garage door just before I arrive and go straight in.

I once set up an IFTTT alert that sent a text to my Mrs telling her I’d left work in central London. All I had to do was, er, leave work as it worked off my phone leaving a specified area.

I haven’t set it up yet, but I have an iSpindel that I will link with ubidots and IFTTT. No idea exactly what I’m going to do with it, but I’ve gone for the IFTTT subscription as I’m sure I will use it to some degree or other.

Might be worth looking over this thread Inkbird and Home Automation

I started to look at IFTTT but went more down the Pi route.
Yeah, I read that earlier.

I work in IT, so I understand the concept, but not familiar with the specific services that are being discussed. I’m not a coder, so anything I use will need to be already written. More research needed.

I'm not a coder either. It's all very much copy and past command codes from websites and a bit of drag drop using the odd GUI. Big jigsaw puzzle.

Genuinely easy

When I go in the kitchen after dark then the lights come on automatically.....just a little LED 2 watt job, but enough to have it automated and the ability to make it into the kitchen and see after I've had 2 pints of "Noobs lager" I made, I think it's about 16% if you want the truth...LOL
