Sorry if this has been posted before but while browsing the web I found this site:
http://www.homebrewing.com/

What a great site, things like wort coolers seem cheaper to buy than make yourself with the price of copper.

As for the price of Cornies, well I'm going to investigate importing some at that price.

Does anyone know of a UK based company with a reange like that and at those prices?

the cornies are much cheaper in the USA for some reason, pretty much everyone on the forum buys their cornies from norm but the above sponsor brewuk also sells all the gear.

I think you will find the postage will kill any dreams of cheap equipment from the states, Norm sells his pretty cheaply and throws in the disconnects in the price which redresses the balance greatly.

The shipping is a problem, and it is a good point about the disconnects.

I was also just pointing out the range of equipment the company sells, it seems what ever hobby you have in America you are better supported.

By the way who is Norm?

Norm is the guy who sells cornies and other related items if you click on the link at the top you will find him drop him an email mention the forum and he will sort you out hes a top bloke ive bought 4 off him

I must admit to having spent hours looking at brew porn like that

I totally agree we need that level of supply in this country

Yes, we are rather fortunate in the US to have access to so many homebrewing suppliers of both ingredients and equipment. But you are right: easy to spend LOTS of money!

Bigger Population = More Homebrewers

Tend to go overboard with gadgets = More gadgets

Don't tend to Bodge and make do and mend = Retailers willing to invest in stock as it will sell.

Homebrewers in the UK are their own worst enemies some time trying to do everything on the cheap

Thought that was the main objective of Home Brewing!
Home brewing is not cheap! . . . If I want cheap booze I can buy it in a supermarket!

I homebrew because I enjoy the process, and craft a quality product . . .not because its cheap

Think you may be being a tad pompous there Tony.
Hardly pompous :nono: . While doing everything as cheap as possible may be some brewers aim, it's not one of mine ! . . . if I factor in everything that is a cost in making a batch of beer, then I can easily afford to drink quality craft brewed beer in a local hostlery and still save money compared to what it would cost for Me to make a batch of beer.

The one big cost that a lot of people fail to take into consideration is Time if it takes say 12 Hours in total to make a batch of beer how much does that add per pint? Once you take that into account then brewing beer because you enjoy it makes a lot more sense1

Good Point Aleman.

I brew at work and while I am brewing I don't do any work so that is a lost day and the cost of premises which is easily a few hundred pounds.

But I don't complain as I produce great beer.................some of the time.

And how much per hour is the average person paid for their spare time when the average person is brewing. My guess is a lot less than the minimum wage, in other words nothing, so it is not correct for the average person to factor in how much an hour they get paid.

'Spare' Time :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

I guess the 'Average Joe' can't value time

Spare time in my case is time I'm not working (being paid), not working on the house / car or anything else the girlfriend wants me to do.

I value my "spare" time by brewing

To me brewing is a hobby, I have friends that have hobbys like fishing, scuba diving etc. inwhich they spend money to take part so I have no problem spending money on my hobby. Plus I have an end result most hobbies don't.
