Home brew has a terrible reputation from the eighties.

Try a bottle of Ghost Ship compared to a can of decent craft beer, and the difference is like night and day.
Yep, its a stigma which is difficult to shift
Even when you tell a stranger about home brew and you can say how you mill fresh get fresh hops and all that there is a whiff of a sardonic to their smile.
Whilst it seems a shun towards kit brewing I do always try to emphasis that I use fresh ingredients and all that which is the best way I find to alter perception.
The thing with "craft" beer that annoys me is breweries producing crap and selling it at 3 quid for 330ml.
The usual first question/remark being "oh what strength is that/that must be rocket fuel is it" can be quite annoying. As well as them always implying it probably tastes ****e while they sup their pint of stella ir carling

Your choice to buy that kind of beer with additions, when 80% of the craft beer I look at is just malt and hops :hmm:
I hate the term ââ¬Åcraftââ¬Â and some of the beers that are brewed just for the sake of being wacky. Most ââ¬Åcraftââ¬Â beer is pretty good.

I've noticed more bland beers being bigged up as craft and also the term IPA. I can spot this mass market fake crap a mile off but jo public may not and try a bland 'craft / ipa' and declare they dont like it. Also hops are mentioned more, but the bland beers will have extremely low hopping rates compared to what a lot of us use. My son bought a beer hopped only with galaxy and I had a sip. probably used 1 hop cone per 100litres or less. Or more like they waved a hop cone in the brewery two months ago :-(
He's learn his lesson and only buys certain known good brewers beers - stone,sixpoint,brewdog. etc.
You're probably right about that one. I read that all Galaxy forward contracts are sold out to 2020 leaving smaller brewers to pick up what they can on the spot market. I know one brewer who describes it as 'green gold'. I wouldn't be surprised if that leads to lower usage rates.
There are a lot of 'bland' beers which have jumped onto the craft beer marketing image but the thing I dislike most is giving the beer a ridiculous name to appear to be rebellious. I would have to look at a review before buying a beer with a stupid name. For instance (and this beer may be the best in the world, I don't know and haven't tried it), I saw one the other day called 'F*ck me, the Christmas tree is on fire'. :hmm:Now, if this beer has spruce tips in it then the name is sort of appropriate but...

Its a name I don't like either, in the US it has a small meaning as there a limit to how much of it you can make but the limit is huge. In the UK it has little to no meaning and like Pavros says there are many tasteless beers now using it, it wasn't so bad when it just meant loads of hops or weird ingredients but its now totally meaningless.

Shirley the answer is simple, Stop socialising with folk that have fallen for the marketing gimmick that is 'craft beer'.
Craft is simply a term applied by salespeople to provide the illusion of added value where none exists.

Craft beer - pah! Bleedin' daft beer more like. For those simple-minded buffoons who actually believe Mr.Kipling churns out his exceedingly good cakes by the millions by hand, from a cosy little cottage kitchen next to a windmill with butterflies and the soft smell of summer all around.
