That's about it really, the title says it all.

Anyone else got any tasks to perform this weekend which they particularly dislike, or what's your least favourite DIY challenge?

Just cleaned the oven, well, SWMBO did the most of it...

mate cleaning ovens is easy peasy just make a strong solution of bicarbonate of soda, spray it all over the inside of the oven when cold, then turn oven on repeat spraying for about a week and the oven cleans itself, just wash thoroughly at the end of the week with lots of hot water as it will be full of black soot. Mine had not been cleaned in years, it is now shinny shinny. I spray it beforre every use now and it is awesome. :geek:

Had 19 houses in an army career spanning 30 years and i cleaned every cooker in them!
The best way i found was - no chemicals - no soaps - no acids - no waiting -
A good old black and decker with a wire brush on it! cleans both electric and gas and does not scratch the enamel either. :thumb:

There is a nack to doing ceilings when i was at college they taught us to fold the wallpaper a certain way and then while on step ladders stick the paper at one end of the ceiling hold it there with a roller on a pole or a soft brush then in your left hand hold the folded paper in the right hand hold the brush etc and unfold while walking at the same time using the roller or brush to position on ceiling. It takes a bit of getting used to but once mastered its quick and easy. That was over 25 years ago though thins surely must have moved on. :D

I got it sussed in the end, make a tighter concertina than usual, slap the start roughly in position, move along a few feet and get the middle of the run right, support that with a broom while moving ladders, finish the run and then go back to reposition the first few feet.

It's done, and done well if I say so myself.

Still doesn't mean that I like the job, but I think I've earned a beer now

Moving house, doing it now, workshop to do over the next 2 weeks, painful stuff

Snap. Im clearing the Garage/workshop at the moment. Moved 3 car loades of stuff to my parents and it still looks just as full

DIY full stop I hate it, have been doing it nearly every week in some form or other for the past 14years over 2 houses.

Up to now I have fitted 3 new kitchens, 4 bathrooms, tiled umpteen floors, shifted 60 ton of top soil and leveled my back lawn, laid an oak floor to most of my downstairs rooms, replaced all doors and doorframes, repaired roofs etc etc etc etc etc

& don't talk to me about decorating, I shy away from all diy now cos as soon as i paint a wall my kids crayon over my work( I painted ity daddy  )

UP

another one for this please... I keep looking at our ovens, and whilst they are being kept under some control I'd like to get them cleaner and don't like the harsh oven cleaners...
