Did a couple of brews at the weekend, one of Citra and a Cocker Hoop clone.

After the boil the OG of the Citra read 1052, whilst the CH read 1040.

However, thought to check the hydrometer last night just on off chance, and it read 0.990 in 20C water. I am now thinking that my OG readings are inaccurate.

Therefore, should I simply add an additional 10 to each reading, ie. 1052 becoming 1062 and 1040 becoming 1050?

Thanks in anticipation...

I'm no more experienced than you my friend but I think your water test and the resulting adjustment is bang on.
Must say I also find it hard to be accurate ..... the beers cloudy, the jar is cloudy and meniscus could be +5 to -5 :!:

If indeed my adjustments are correct, and assuming the Citra finishes anywhere near to 1010 then I may have inadvertently created a bit of a potent one at over 6.5% :? On the same basis, the CH would end up at a very palatable 5.3% :)
