Could changes it atmospheric pressure somehow be playing a part? Not that I would expect it to change that much in that short a period of time.
Is there something that could cause the meniscus to be changing shape over time? Or as a finishing hydrometer, is the scale so wide that that's a ludicrous suggestion?
