Hi and welcome to the forum , i used to holiday in Ilfracombe when i was young on my dads boat , lovely harbour , i hope it's still as nice theses days , i'm sure they would of built houses everywhere by now etc .

its stunning here, i just moved in december, was in not so bonny dundee before! the harbour is still beautiful im happy to say :)

Hi and welcome from me.

I'm very, very jealous.

The current Mrs Stu and I would give our right arms to live by the coast. Unfortunately work and previous domestic circumstances (ex-Mrs Stu and Stu-lets) mean I can't move any closer than around 120 miles from my nearest piece of (somewhat cobbled) sand.

thanks Stu, i hope that when the stu-lets are taller you and current mrs stu can get some good sea air.. i tried getting good sea air in dundee but just ended up with nostrils stuffed with seagulls and mild frostbite

Thing about much of Scotland I find is that it's the most fabulous views, countryside and so on. I thoroughly love driving through Northern Scotland - miles and miles of unbroken, quiet roads.

But I can't stand getting out of the car. Even mid August and it's cold, miserable and wet!

Now if you could find me the Scottish coast but with decent weather........

My kids aren't that young fortunately - youngest is 12. Eldest is shortly to start college.

Hi, growing up in Plymouth we used to go to N Devon for hols, Combe Martin, Woolacombe beautiful. I once worked in a small zoo near Barnstaple, on the way there I got lost in Ilfracombe, so I stopped a local and asked him the way to Barnstaple "Barnastaple...I likes Barnstaple" "Great, which way is it?" "Zumtimes I goes there by car...." is how the conversation went....

Have to say though Dundee to Ilfracombe, you can't get much further, you must really dislike Dundee!

Welcome to the forum..
