Decide what ABV you're wanting first then work out how much sugar is in the juice you're using from the ingredients/nutrition information on the pack. Once you know how much sugar you're starting with in the juice you can calculate how much more sugar you need to add to hit the ABV you want in 4.5l (one dj) of cider.I have now got 3 litres of apple juice and a litre of red grape juice, to try my first attempt, can you please let me know the process with or without sugar?
As guide you would need approx 550g sugar in total (including the sugar in the juice) to get 6% ABV if it stops fermenting at 0.998
