I found this recipe for some Viking heather ale and fancy giving it a go for my next brew.

The recipe calls for 1.3kg of Malt extract...Can I just replace this with maris otter or similar in my mash tun as I will be doing it AG? How do I work out the weight though?

Yup! beersmith has a function that does just this, I usually bung recipes in regardless so I can tweak to personal taste - ABV, IBU's, ingredient availability etc...

You need about 2100g malt in total, as the crystal malt will also mash and produce sugars. So 1600g Pale, 500g Crystal
