Thought I'd do some WOW so popped into town to Wilko's for some yeast.
Having a nose around I notice the price of Kit beers. Jesus H when and why did they go up so much?

Sorry its probably been discussed in the past, but a couple of years back 2010 Tom Caxton's was £7.50 its now £15......hope it tastes better for that price

The price of barley went through the roof as lots of wheat crops failed. The price of wheat went up as everyone wants bread (not beer...weird :wha: ). Farmers started frowing wheat so less barley was grown - forcing the price of barley up. Maltsters had to go cap and hand and offer farmers contracts to grow malting barley. Now, for a long time maltsters were the ones who controlled the price they paid - now the boots on the other foot and they have to guarantee Farmers a price. On top of all that energy costs have gone up...

Thanks FB :thumb:

Obviously we all expect some price increases but for it to be doubled in such a short time is unexplainable

interesting stuff that farmbrew, never knew! makes me laugh that screamlead made up 10kg of malted barley or something for 9p in turkey

LOL currently buying from local grain miller here @ 1tl per kg so 5kg is = to 1.73p
Thats about the cheapest i can get it now and its not bad as far as size and consistency goes, still a bit of stalks and muck in it but hey ho got 15kg on the go. 3rd lot ready to be dried out from today.
