Just bottled my first kit that didnt go to final gravity so worked out at 4percent someone suggested due to the use of spraymalt question is if I was doing sam kit with same spray malt how much additional sugar should I add to a 23l kit to get an extra percent?

I work to the rule of thumb that 1kg of grain adds 1% to abv for a 23l batch. DME (spraymalt) is a more concentrated sugar source, so about 700 - 750 g will add that extra percent.

This is the calculator I use. I've used it in practice and found it spot on.

@foxbat I tried that calculator to see how much cane sugar you'd need to go from 1.000 to 1.050 in 23 litres and it says 6.6kg - that's way off. I worked it out on another calculator and it's still doing the calculation in pounds. And it uses US gallons in Imperial mode.
