Hi all, I’ve got a wheery on the go that’ll be ready for bottling this weekend, my question is I have some coopers carbonation drops, and on the instructions it says one tab per 375 ml bottle, I am very fussy about REAL real ale, I don’t like a creamy head on my beer!! or lots of fizz and bubbles asad. so I’m thinking should I half the dosage of carbonation tab? What are your thoughts?

Are you using 375 ml bottles? To control carbonation I prefer to batch prime using priming calculator on the internet. That way I can readily and easily determine the level of carbonation and can use bottles of different sizes without having to make any adjustments. I can also use sugar from the cupboard.
Having said all that, I recently had some carbonation drops left over and used them on a Wherry as it happens - one drop per 500ml bottle. It was pretty spot on.
When you say you're fussy about real ale, what do you mean?

Yes 375ml bottles, what I mean about being fussy is a glass of beer with a inch head on that ends up all over your face when drinking is not in my book real ale, not being funny but most good old real ale pubs have the barrel on its side and the ale trickles out without the use of gas, few bubbles on the top and that’s it. Thats the kind of brew I’m trying to achieve, I do realise I’d stand more chance using a barrel, but thought I’d explore options using the bottling method.
