Hi peeps,

I bought some Wilko 2part finings and it treats 23l, but I only have 1 demi john with wow in it.
do i need to gauge approx 1 fifth of the 2 packs, or chuck the lot in?

:wha:

I got "kwik clear" wine + beer finings from the local homebrew shop, it is in 2 small bottles instuctions on back of box per 4.5lts it cost about £3.25 and there is enough for 70 to 135 lts so good value  I used it on my pineapple wine (12.2%) worked a treat

I use Kwick Clear as well. Can't fault it, although to clear wines I would say it took a little longer then the box says.

ill have to put Kwik clear on the old shopping list

Ditto. Wilkinson's is great for if I've forgotten something, I can pop to the one 10mins down the road. But the individual sachets are too expensive for sustainable use.

Ditto, it's the best one I've found :thumb:

If your wine is properly degassed and you use it at the 2ml to the gallon dosage, there's probably a chance that your wine could be mostly cleared in the time they suggest.

Personally, I use it at around 1.25ml to the gallon and am happy for mine to take a week or so.

Ask your local pharmacy for a medicine syringe to simplify measuring out such tiny amounts.

I ment to ask the vets for a few syringes but forgot to ask on our last 3 visits (got a couple of kittens and with injections and suspected ringworm spent a little too much time there!). I'll try a pharmacy tomorrow as at the moment I've got a little measuring cup with ml on the side. The scale goes up in 5ml so I use roughly just under half, but it's rough guesswork. Also, I don't think I de-gas my wines completely as I get a little impatient:sad:

I thought about adding the line you used in your WOW tutorial onto my next order of bits, but now you've said that I think I'll stick to Kwick Clear!
