Hi all sorry if this has been asked before but i made up two kits then got snowed under with work before i had a chance to rack them. They have noe been in the primary on top of the yeast for about two months + !!!. Should i just bin them off or is there a chance of them being ok ?

It should be ok but I wouldn't leave it much longer. Also, you might want to consider pitching a little more yeast so that there is some there to prime the bottles.

Ok thanks for the advice. What would cause it to be past usable ? infection ? or does the dead yeast have an effect after a time ?
I taste going to be effected already ?

If it's been cold then you could get away with it . . . at room temperature it's possibly too late. What happens is the yeast start to die off and they release nasty chemicals into the beer. If it smells like rubber you will probably want to bin them, if not have a taste you could have got away with it. . . .but don't make a habit of it :nono: :nono: :nono:

Have a good smell in the FV and taste to see what you think. There is no point in continuing if it's gone sour.... yuo'll know if it's gone! Otherwise carry on as others have suggested.
Good luck

Edit: beaten too it by AM ;)
