At most replace the yeast, but I’d just sling it in and see what happens. It’s part of the fun!
No way, Jose. That's not an APA. The labels must have got mixed up. Nothing to do with the age of the kit, either.Well, I ended up brewing it "as is".
I made a large 2 litre starter to give the yeast the best chance and got a really big slurry to set things in motion.
I must have made some sort of mistake in the boiling or something because it sure is the darkest American Pale Ale I've ever seen.
Seen here alongside some of last year's cider and a bottle of olive oil for colour comparison.
Pretty drinkable though. Reminds me a lot of Guinness original stout

Glad it worked out.
Puzzled why they call it a 'Partial Mash' kit though. There is no grain mashing involved just a grain steep and a hop boil.
So its an extract brew which includes a grain steep.
