I am planning Blonde ale as my first extract brew but will only be doing a 10 litre partial boil and topping up to 23litres due to pot capacity. Any idea on quantities for bittering and finishing hops? I am using fuggles at 60 mins and then Kent goldings 15 minutes and 5 minutes...was thinking 3 oz then 2 oz then 1 oz......Any advice greatly appreciated.

I did a similar thing for my first brew, I used the recipe calculator on Brewers Friend, after deciding that I wanted 50 IBUs (based on searching for IBUs of beers I liked). I would calculate it for you, but it needs the fermentables you're using too.

Worked out pretty well.

Cheers Strong arm. I would really appreciate that. I am using two 1.5kg tins of coopers light malt....aiming for a Wychwood wychcraft style blonde.... :D

Calculator says 42 IBUs for that hop schedule and that LME in 10 litres. I dont know how that compares to said beer though. I think it's maybe on high side for a blonde beer, but someone more knowledgeable can hopefully help.

Feel I must thank you for something else Strong arm. ...For introducing me to the brewers friend website! What a resource! Brilliant.

No problem. It is very good isn't it.

I did my first two brews using it, so planned the recipes then started a brew session using those recipes (the green Brew button) so you can then add notes as you go along etc. (it will also print out a brew checklist for you) and it calculates your ABV and what have you when you're finished then generates labels for you to print out and stick on the bottles.

One thing to note is you can only save 4 recipes unless you pay for it. I haven't as yet, but at $10 for a year I'm pretty certain I will.
