Hop pellets

I have two brews on the go at the moment - both special edition Wilko's kit
like a numpty I didn't even think about the consequences of adding the hop pellets without putting them in a bag - I take it these wont simply sit at the bottom and they are more likely to break up and be in every single pint I pour. I have a spare pressure keg - is it worth transferring to the spare keg via a muslin bag when I add the conditioning sugar?

I wouldn't worry about loose pellets in your FV, they should settle on the bottom with the trub. If they haven't after 2 weeks, then filter when you transfer.

If you have the option to rack, do so a few days before kegging. And connect a muslin bag somewhere inbetween during racking.

I had the same dilemma, whether to use a muslin bag or just sprinkle on the top. I did both, the bag worked fine, adding at the end of ferment when reading stayed at 1.010 for 3days, dropped bag in F.V. for 5 days, then racked off and bottled. When I dropped the pellet in at same stage 2 days latter they were all floating on the top so I gave them a gentle stir the next day they all sank but a few which I gave another stir, pellets were in for 5 days, then syphoned off and cold crashed in garage for 3 days and then bottled. This was the clearest brew I have bottled to date. I hope this helps.

I always just drop hop pellets into the FV. As long as you siphon out through a muslin bag (always a good idea anyway), it will be fine.
