I've had my first go at making pesto tonight, i was quite surprised at how easy it was. The results were good but wouldn't light the world on fire. Do any of you guys make pesto and if so, would you like to share the recipes? :D

I've never made it. When I was younger and did a lot of cycling I used to live on the stuff with pasta, that and raw egg protein shakes
Hopefully I can grow a fair bit of Basil on the lotty this year and get making some Pesto

I used red peppers this time and i found them a little to moist, next time, maybe tomorrow i'll use sundried tomatoes

I thought the idea was to get info from forum members rather than the impersonal Google etc ( confused)

Ps, try getting hold of some siam queen basil and making pesto with that :thumb:

EDIT...no it's not normal Basil in drag

I don't think Siam Queen will make very good Pesto, I would stick to stirring it into a Thai Curry.

That is assuming Siam Queen Is Thai Holy Basil as opposed to european Basil, I usually grow greek basil in the greenhouse, it grows like buggery and is much easier to look after than the italian broad leaf strains.

mmmmmm some Parmesan link and some nice ground black pepper link and we are talking.

That's the one, I eat a lot of Thai food so I'll be growing a lot of this, along side the lemon grass, etc.

Have you tried it :D I get a bit bored of 'normal' pesto so I'm looking to try different angles.

I can soon put a stop to that

Have you tried pesto with sun dried red chillies? Cracking

Just read the “wikipedia” definition of Pesto.
It would appear that as long as it contains; Basil, Pine Nuts, Garlic and is made in a Mortar and Pestle; you can near enough do your own thing! (supprised)
Thanks for the link (cheers)
