great article ... :thumb:

lets hope that rob our maltmiller gets a piece of the action...

speaking of which....
did anyone read the lesbian story on there...

I think she was more concerned about her Husband seeing it  her

  him.

Wonder if he shared any pics or video with his mates at the pub

Pints for £1? They're doing it rong!

Edit - Ah yes! The Guardian's metropolitan elitism never suffers to acknowledge that anything enjoyed by the British working class has any real merit. So its no surprise that the article had a compulsory swipe at British ale

For many years, beer has meant either Camra-endorsed real ale – generally a brown, bittersweet drink served cellar-cool

Fnar. Yuck who would want to drink that muck.

Ah The Grauniad, ever corerct ni ist spellung adn ist content

An interesting article despite the elitist swipe. It has all the basic info required to pique the interest of a latent brewer but without so much as to be a technical manual, boring and clinical.

Let's hope it attracts more brewers to the fold, I know I will welcome them with open arms.
The more folk that brew at home the more likely group buys and co-operative societies will spring up in order to purchase and distribute good ingredients at fair prices.

If it's in the Grauniad it must be "hip" :D

Is it compulsory to have the 80's mustache and dodgy hair cut

That lad looks like something out of Frankie goes to Hollywood

I think they stole the photo from "Carry on Brewing" a little known film from the 80's which involved lots of jokes about sparge arms and gratuitous shots of buxom barmaids taking time over pulling a pint.

Famous quotes include:

"Oh but it's so hard"
"I can never get my hand right the first time"
"Fwoar!"
and
"Hyak hyak hyak!"

Interesting little article with plenty of digs at british beer. BUt i did reach the end of the article and feel like if you were not a brewer why bother as his try was pretty ****. It was always going to be **** if you drink it 2 weeks after bottling and give it no time to mature. Not the best advert for homebrewing.

I suppose the only consolation is he's a web developer, should keep him out of view most of the time.

How long before male perms come back???

:drink:

Interesting if not a tad slanted. Although I'm rather intrigued by her siphoning technique. How do you get a siphon to go uphill? The level of the liquid in the bucket is below the top of her bottle. :hmm:

When I said I was joining a brewing group, my wife said " Well you wont be the only one wearing sandals for a change!!"

(as per my recent picture post here!!) (picking hops)

at least you werent wearing socks with those sandals...

I thought the article was an interesting read. Not too technical or off-putting, hopefully it will help some people get into home brewing or to realise that there is more to beer than fizzy ****.

although I certainly was annoyed by the fact they used the £1 pint headline, making it seem initially to be about the money rather than quality brews!

£1 a pint, cor I've got a good few quid stored down 'The Den' :D

....... although some of the comments about their finished product doesn't help the general 'opinion' of homebrew. We know its a lot better than the Grauinad describes.

Spot on, typical sneering attitude from the Gordain, a detestable rag.

Anyone having a pop at the Guardian, aren't you happy that they're getting new people into brewing? Lighten up people!!

Intresting read non the less.

£1 a pint is a bit steep, maybe if you include your inital setup!

Maybe we will see a boom in homebrewers now, or maybe a boom in used kits when they have made their first batch and given up lol

Unfortunately the Grauinads article isn't the best and could've been a much better introduction to our hobby, as I stated earlier their description of their finished product wasn't exactly inspiring :?:

Hi not a bad article all in! And while we're picking holes ;) What is the problem with CAMRA?? Think of the swill we had to drink before they turned up!!(double diamond anybody)? (I don't think anyone to do with the article is over 25yrs so don't remember the dark days)!! As for the yanks, yes the microbrewery scene is huge over there. But what about bu#weis*r, co*rs, et al! Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!!!!!!!!!!
