Home brewing history

I don't know if anyone else is interested in this, but my two interests are brewing and history so I thought i'd combine the two and write about it.

I got hold of a book from 1830 which I found fascinating so this post is about brewing at home back then, why it was done and how they did it and my interpretation of the process. A bit of a niche market i know but if anyone's interested, please have a look and let me know what you think;

Very interesting post, thanks for sharing. Especially the bit about spoilt beer. I might give that a go if I ever get spoilt batch.

Thanks very much. Yes i thought it would be an interesting fix. Id be tempted to give it a 10 min boil too which they may well have done in 1830 had they had electric elements!

I've got a lot of old books, some even older. I'll try and keep them coming.
