Hi guys, Im a mechanical engineering HNC student and as part of one of my assignments (Engineering Design) i need to create a design and do a project based around it. As far as I'm aware the rules are very open so i thought about creating some sort of home brew station in which i can brew my beer in the future. I have only ever done one batch of home brew and really enjoyed it but found the process a little awkward regarding temperature control and storing the bottles etc. Any ideas of this project from so more experienced brewers would be much appreciated. My plan is to create some sort of temperature controlled box that can house 4 mil crates which will allow me to brew 80 bottles at a time. The method i used on my first batch was a water bath with a fish tank heater and a fish tank thermometer. I think this method was good and worked well so i was thinking maybe create and closed water batch with the heater and thermometer integrated in the design.

Incorporate some kind of safety mechanism so the heater can't be turned on unless submerged...
