@bobukbrewer Yes, this is a first time for me brewing a really light session ale. I didn't get enough base malt firstly (7lbs + 6oz crystal 70) , that's why I added the syrup. I mashed a bit too cool, really, second fault. And over-pitched the yeast which meant I had huge amounts of yeast floating around in the wort, which kept munching away long after it should have dropped. Yet, last night I carefully got the wort out into secondary, and overnight it has started pressuring up. I'll give it a couple of weeks now and see what it comes out like, but without hopes of a decent brew.

@Sadfield The microscope is big part of another thing I do, fresh water (chalkstream) surveying - interesting stuff, and it means I keep a few chemical dyes and so on. It's brilliant for doing yeast cell viability.
