Hi, having procrastinated about making my own wine for many many years I found some demijohns in a charity shop two weeks ago. The following day I started off some mead (my favourite ever drink) swiftly followed by some orange wine and last week I added some turbo cider cos I'm impatient and wanted to make something quick. Two more free demijohns and I can't decide what to put in them!
My family keep finding me in the kitchen watching the bubbles...

Berry season's just got going, I suggest a mix of berries and currants: about 3lb to the gallon. Your choice really but rassies make a good base, get some blackcurrants in for excellent winey flavour, then some blackberries or strawbs if you want, a few raisins for wineiness, some tannin, and around a kilo of sugar, nutrient, yeast.

Thank you for the welcome!
I'm a bit nervous of processing fruit tbh, that's why I've started with simple ones. Having said that I have got blackcurrants and courgettes growing in the garden, do courgettes work?

Berries are easy, just a bit of a squash and leave them in a fermenting bucket with the other stuff for 5-7 days, then strain to your demi

Courgettes... not heard of it being done

Oh ok, that doesn't sound too traumatic!
I just googled courgette wine and apparently it is 'delicious' so maybe I should have a go. Have to admit it sounds rank!

Well, I dunno, I do carrot and parsnip, so if you like the taste of courgette - mind you carrot and parsnip don't actually end up tasting of carrot or parsnip, they just taste of good wine.
