New poster - I'm a British ex-pat now living in Canada - and I'm new to brewing as well.. The wife got me a brewing kit for Xmas, and as I'm currently unemployed I've found time to sit down and have a play.. Got my first two batches of ale on the go!

Done two Barons kits - Redwood Ale and Mexican Cervesa - The Redwood should be ready for sugaring and bottling in about a week and I just racked the Cervesa over to the carboy today, so two weeks on that one.. Once I've bottled the first one, I'm either going to do a 'can kit' of another beer or maybe a cider.. The brew shop I've been going to has these 'Black Rock' kits from New Zealand that look pretty good - just going to have to see how they price up, as there's another place I nipped into that has another brand of beer kits going pretty cheap, so if it's a $10 or more difference, I'll probably go with the cheaper one.

how is the h/b scene in canada ...?

Pretty lively actually! Since I've started doing this myself and looking around the brew shops, I've found a whole bunch of them in Winnipeg (a few of them are chain stores though, so there's a few branches in different parts of the city). I've been meaning to get into brewing for a few years and kept talking about it but never got around to it until the wife got me this brewing kit for Christmas and I've been out of work so I've just started using it - and I'm hooked! :)
