Hi - Novice Brewer checking in!

Hello, I'm Adrian from Lichfield.
Just started a five-gallon kit off this afternoon, so I may be posting in the forthcoming weeks for advice.
All I can say for the mo is that my starting S.G. is 1.035. Fingers crossed.

- It's a Youngs 5 gallon lager kit from Tesco - a birthday present from a hopeful mate!

I haven't tried HB since the late 1980s, but it's starting to come back. Does1035 OG seem a little light?

Also thinking about how I'm going to bottle it - PET screwtops seem to be in line with my budget, although not very aesthetically pleasing. Any views? :hmm:

Welcome. : You should be fine in pet bottles. They work fine and you can tell when they are properly conditioned by squeezing them.

Finally bottled, 16 days after start of fermentation. Looks a bit cloudy - even after finings, but according to the My First Brew page there's another couple of months to clear.

Better start another one next week - missing it already.
